Q: What is Sanctuary all about?
A: Sanctuary is a Los Angeles-based pansexual organization comprised of people of all genders, sexual identity and sexual orientation who have an interest in the exchange of power within The BDSM and Leather Lifestyle. The purpose of the organization is to provide a supportive environment for it's members to learn, understand and practice the art of  safe, sane and consensual Power Exchange between consenting adults.
 

Q:  What am I representing as a Sanctuary Titleholder?
A: You will be representing an organization that is active in Community support and fundraising, and also strives to promote awareness of the B/D, D/s and S/M lifestyles through education and understanding by providing social and educational opportunities such as Munches, Socials, Play Parties, Seminars, Discussions and Workshops for it's members, although many events are open to non-members as well. If you believe that BDSM and/or that Power Exchange between consenting adults is a healthy means of self-expression, then this organization is what you have been looking for.
 

Q: Why is Sanctuary producing  a Leather Contest?
A: Mistress Cyan and Sanctuary are active members and supporters of The Los Angeles Leather Coalition and The Los Angeles Leather Community. Sanctuary believes in diversity within the Community and promotes such diversity, believing that a unified BDSM and Leather Community is stronger than two separate communities. Bringing the communities together has been a goal of Mistress Cyan for many years and producing a Leather Contest is but one more step in bringing these two communities together.
 

Q: Why should I compete fpr Mr Sanctuary Leather?
A: If you answer yes to the following questions, then you should consider competing for the Title of Mr Sanctuary Leather... Are you interested in participating in The Leather Community and helping make it a better place for everyone? Are you interested in promoting awareness through education to new prospective members of our Community? Are you interested in helping with fundraising activities to help those in and out of our Community, and make a difference in the lives of others? Are you interested in actively participating in a Community that WANTS your help? If so, the Title of Mr Sanctuary Leather will help you achive these things.
 

Q: What will be expected of Me as Mr Sanctuary Leather?
A: As Mr. Sanctuary Leather, you will be obliged to participate in the Mr. Los Angeles Leather 2011 event as a contestant, and wear, when appropriate at various local, national, or international leather oriented public events, my Title Vest, Title Medallion and/or Title Sash that will be provided by Sanctuary. You will be required, for one calendar year from the date of your installation as Mr. Sanctuary Leather, or until the next Mr. Sanctuary Leather contest, whichever comes first, to represent Sanctuary and The Leather Community in Los Angeles at all LA area Leather and/or Gay Community eventsyou attend as Mr. Sanctuary Leather (i.e. LA Gay Pride 2011, LA Gay Pride Parade 2011, The 2011 Mayor’s Reception, Erotic City at LA Gay Pride, Sunset Junction Leather Weekend events, LALC events, ALL feeder contests leading up to Mr. LA Leather 2011, all events scheduled for LAL Week, and DomCon LA 2011.,  You must make the effort to attend any leather events and fundraisers in the Southern California and LA area during your title year deemed appropriate by the producers.
 

Q: What kind of support will I get from Sanctuary as their Titleholder?
A: As Mr Sanctuary Leather, you will receive the support of Mistress Cyan and Sanctuary in all your community fundraising efforts, as well as planning and implementation of such events. Mistress Cyan and Sanctuary will also assist and support you in all your efforts to build a Travel Fund for you to attend other Leather Events around the country if you desire to do so. Mistress Cyan, who served as a Judge in The 2006 Mr LA Leather Contest, will mentor you and help you prepare for your Title Run for Mr Los Angeles Leather 2011 if you so desire, as well as support you in your quest for the Title of Mr International Leather if you win the Title of Mr Los Angeles Leather. 
 

Q: Who are the Judges for The Mr Sanctuary Leather Contest?
A: Sanctuary is proud of the 2011 Mr Sanctuary Leather Judging Panel. The Judges for this year0's contest are Head Judge Dr Lawrence Burden (Avatar LA),Mr Sanctuary Leather 2010 Russ Coleman (LA Band of Brothers), Mr Sanctuary Leather 2008 J.R. Raymond (Avatar LA and LA Band of Brothers), Genesis (Sanctuary) and oddess Chal (Genesis TNG & Sanctuary)
 

Q: What is the prize package for The Mr Sanctuary Leather Contest?
A: All Mr Sanctuary Leather Contestants will receive a framed Certificate of Appreciation, a free yearly memvership to Sanctuary, and a Gift Bag for taking the time to enter and compete in the contest. The Mr Sanctuary Leather Runner Up will alos receive a Medallion. The winner of The Mr Sanctuary Leather Contest will receive a Titleholders Medallion, A Leather Title Vest with Title Patch, a plaque, a gift certificate for a weekend stay in Palm Springs and more
 

Q: What doeas the contest entail?
A: The Mr. Sanctuary Leather Contest follows the same basic format as The Mr Los Angeles Leather Contest and IML. There will be a Meet and Greet at The Eagle LA on Friday night January 14th where you will be introduced and have your contestant number chosen. This segment is not scored, but you are definitely being watched by the judges and you only get one chance to make a first impression!  .  Act like you are meeting the boss and some coworkers after work.  Don’t drink too much.  Don’t even get close to being drunk. 

Private interviews with the Judges will take place at Sanctuary in The SFV on Saturday afternoon, January 15th. One score (0 to 40) given from each judge to each contestant. The judges will ask you about leather culture and your personal life. Be ready for anything! A lot of contests are won or lost in the interview portion, so prepare accordingly!

The Mr Sanctuary Leather Contest concludes at The Eagle LA that Saturday night, January 15th, at 9:00 PM. The contest itself will consist of three segments... The first segment will be Club Wear where you will be given 90 seconds to introduce yourself and answer a question that you will be given to you earlier that day. One score (0 to 20) given from each judge to each contestant. Your overall appearance and your presentation will be judged. The second segment will be Physique and Personality, this is also nown as The Jock or codpiece segment. One score (0 to 20) given from each judge to each contestant. You will be judged on your overall appearance and presentation. You will pose and work the stage in front of the audience. You will be asked at least one lighthearted question . Wear what you feel shows off your body in the best way.  CAUTION:  If you are not street legal you can and may be arrested on the spot if law enforcement is present. A. STREET LEGAL g-strap is one with a one inch strap in the back. The third and final segment is Formal Leather where you will be asked one or two serious questions.. One score (0 to 20) given from each judge to each contestant.  You will be judged on your overall appearance and presentation.

There ill be a total of 100 points possible. Scores are tallied by the Tally Master and rechecked by the Head Judge. Results are announced onstage.
